- March 25, 2011 - Underground Electric Cables in Limbo?
Back in April of 2010 work crews descended on Galaxidi began digging up the streets around town to lay cable for a new underground electrical network. The work went on for several weeks and while it was very exciting to think we'd be getting rid of all the unsightly electric lines and poles all over town not a thing has happened since. Did the money go away? Is this another failure due to the recent economic downturn? If anyone has an update on this please let us know.

- April, 2010 - Wind Turbin Power Coming to Fokida
EDF Energies Nouvelles, a French renewable energy company, is currently developing and building two wind turbine power facilites in the Fokida Prefecture in the Municipality of Galaxidi, one located at Tsitomi-Paliopournara, and another at Eagle-Kokoraiika. The staging area for the turbine parts is located just off the National Highway at the Tritia road between Galaxidi and Itea.
When completed the one wind turbine farm is expected to deliver 23 MW of power for private consumption - including home heating - to the Fokida area with an estimated production of 52 GWh to over 21,100 residents.
EDF wind energy and solar energy projects are being coordinated with Greek companies EEN Hellas and RETD and through partnerships with PPC Renewables and Quest Energy.
